"alright"  he said

"First question: What is a duchess? Second question: What is included with being a duchess?" Yvette began, starting simple.

"I was suprised of the title myself" john said "its a noble raking only a step down from my own. It also means you now are a ruler of land only answering to me and my parents. You will have to be taught alot."

"Could you tell me what that conversation was in the grand hall?" Yvette asked.

"in short it was politics but it was also avoiding war... hmm." John stood up and went to a table and waved her over. The table wasn't very big but it was a table for 2.

Yvette stood up and walked over on all four paws, "What's up?"

"Sit" he said doing something on the table.

Yvette nodded and took a seat across from him.

The table gad squares on  it and each end had 2 rows of figures.

(think chess)

"What is this supposed to be, John?" Yvette began.

"this is a game where you're goal ls to capture the enemy king" john said "its quite popular."

"Oh... I've not ever played it." Yvette admitted showing interest in his explanation.

John spent awhile explaining the rules

Yvette nodded, "It doesn't seem difficult."

Ooc: She wins a lot or loses a lot?

(Since she's starting out she's losing alot. John is also using it to make a point)

"it isn't as easy as it seems"

Ooc: she could be a born natural. Hehe. Actually outpace him at something.

Ic: Yvette examined the board.

"are you ready to giv it a shot?" John asked

(he's going to use the game to explain things like his conversation with the queen so the end game isn't important)

Ooc: Ah, Okay. Haha

Ic: Yvette nodded, "Sure."

John made his first move he wanted her to feel comfortable with the way the game works first before talking.

Yvette attempted a move she knew was legal from John naming the placement on the board.

They exchanged moves for a little bit before he started talking.

"This game is like how I was talking to the queen. Its like everything I do every day."

"You decide where and what others do?" Yvette asked. She could get her mind off the board, she examined everything: the pieces, the placements, the grid and even the texture of the wood used for the board. She could see it all and she didn't understand how she could.

"Its my role as a future king." John explained "for example,  my talk with the queen. Every word was a move and I almost started a war around 5 times in that short conversation"

"You were quick and you knew how to talk pretty smooth." Yvette said as a grin grew on her face, and she blushed through her light pink face.

"so was the queen." John said "but tomorrow will likely be harder"
